Hello and welcome to my personal newsletter, Reflections.
What is ‘Reflections’ about?
Reflections is my take on events that revolve around me but are also connected in one way or the other to each of you. This includes, but is not limited to, medicine, family, personal finance, productivity, motivation and life lessons. My posts are based on clinical experiences, evidence-based medicine, familial experiences and insights from life’s experiences with an occasional tinge of humor.
The health section contains posts that raise public awareness on various diseases, their impact on our lives and how we can overcome them. The finance section contains my experiences in managing the nuances of personal finance. Financial jargon may be difficult to comprehend at times. I break them down to simple and easily understandable concepts. The content is only meant for educational purposes and does not amount to professional financial advice. The family posts are about my life as a father, husband, and son. The crux of these posts are about how we, as a family, endure and overcome the ups and downs of life.
I also occasionally write about productivity and various philosophies of life which is published directly in the Reflections section. All posts are written with the intention to educate and provide value to readers.
Writing was a hobby that I had picked up in school, lost during my teenage days and presently, resurrecting through Substack. Through Reflections, I hope to connect with readers and share my perspectives. The topics are divided into sections on the home page. I attempt to publish weekly despite leading a double life as a doctor and a family man.
Who am I?
I’m Dr. Sanuj Thomas, your friendly neighborhood physician from India. I’m also a son, husband and father. I love all things medicine. But my deeper interests lie in cancer care, infectious diseases and public health. I love to read, write, do medical research, travel, explore the nuances of personal finance and cherish the time spent with my family.
The Reflections Subscription Model
I aim to publish posts that bring value to readers. Therefore, all new posts will continue to be free for all readers. However, archived posts that are older than three months from the date of publication will be available only to paid subscribers. If you have the resources to support a writer's work and would like to do so, I would be forever obliged to your kindness.
Paid subscribers will also gain access to opportunities to engage directly with me through health-related AMA (ask me anything) sessions, comments, and private chats.
Pricing
The charges I have set are very nominal. At ₹79/ month (roughly $1/month) and ₹799/ year (roughly $10/month), I believe this may be one of the cheapest subscriptions online.
The yearly subscription is 16 % cheaper than the monthly subscription. That's a steal of a deal!
If you decide to become a founding member for just ₹999/year (roughly $12/year), you get the additional perk of suggesting a health-related topic that I can write about with a shoutout of your name in the post.
If, however, you do not wish to move to a paid newsletter subscription (or subscribe to a regular email newsletter at all) but still want to thank me for a post, you can buy me a coffee for just $2 by clicking on the link below. I really need that coffee to keep my brain awake to complete the next post. You also get additional medicine (residency) related posts in the link below. Plus, a portion of the proceeds would go towards charity.
All who opt for a paid subscription and all who buy me a coffee will always have my undying gratitude. You have awakened my sleepy brain and rewarded a writer's efforts.
